IN THE NEWS

Feeding their families continues to be a challenge for many residents of Taney and Stone Counties in 2010.

For the second year, those challenges have been recognized by Mrs. Nora Slusher and the board members of her foundation, named after her late husband, Roy W. Slusher. The Slusher Foundation made an additional $56,500 in grants, above and beyond the Foundation's normal grants, as part of a multi-county initiative toward feeding the hungry called Feeding Hope in 2010.

The organizations in Stone and Taney Counties who shared a grant in the amount of $56,500 from the Slusher Foundation included, pictured with Mayor Raeanne Presley, (from L to R) Salvation Army - Branson, Church Army Branson, Christian Associates of Table Rock Lake, Gift of Hope-My Neighbor's Pantry, Christian Action Ministries and Lives Under Construction Boys Ranch.

The gift, announced in January, 2010, was distributed to six local non-profits. (See photo at right.)

The Slusher Foundation Board urges the community to continue its support to help meet the ongoing needs.

In 2009, the Slusher Foundation granted an extra $50,000 to help feed the area's hungry.

SLUSHER FOUNDATION

Since its inception, the Slusher Foundation has distributed nearly $3.7 million, primarily to nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations in Taney and Stone Counties, Missouri.

Generously created by Roy and Nora Slusher, the Foundation accepts unsolicited grant applications at any time. However, grant applications are reviewed on a semi-annual basis, and application deadlines are March 1 and August 1 of each year.
